Coal industry: Accelerating automation

The policy in the current and next period of the coal industry is to apply modern technology to all stages of production, from mining to processing and transportation. This is the foundation for accelerating modernization and shortening the gap with countries with advanced coal industries.

Notably, for the work of innovation and modernization of technology, TKV always associates research with production, urges units to actively register, implement and develop annual plans, including research projects, pilot production projects, technology transfer. In addition, TKV also builds S&T potential, trains to improve staff qualifications, builds and upgrade facilities for S&T development. Typically, in open-pit coal mining, large-capacity mechanized equipment has been synchronized such as: large-diameter drill, hydraulic excavator with a capacity of 12m3; car-conveyor combined transport system; using cultivators to reduce drilling and blasting... In coal-mineral screening and processing, factories with a capacity of nearly 20 million tons/year have been renovated and invested in new technologies to produce quality bran coals. well, developing a cluster of technology lines for sieving in an environment of autogenous suspensions and mannetite suspensions, creating centralization of sieving work, improving efficiency, and maximizing coal recovery in the screening process... In addition, automation technology, computerization in operation, control and supervision are also applied thoroughly, modernizing the production process.

Thanks to effective application of mechanization and modernization, coal mining output and productivity of some units in the Group increased significantly; contribute to helping TKV successfully realize the objectives of production and business development. In 2019, TKV exploited more than 40.5 million tons of coal (an increase of 3.9 million tons compared to 2018); profit is estimated at more than 3,000 billion dong; average income 11.3 million VND/person/month. Therefore, in the coming time, the coal industry will continue to widely apply synchronous mechanization to the main production stages in mining and processing. At the same time, study and build a number of unmanned operating stations; implementing automation model associated with intelligent production at some stages in order to make the production process transparent and optimized.
